The city of Mandan announced a temporary water outage on a section of Lohstreter Road on July 30 to repair a valve as part of the Street Improvement District 235 project.
According to a news release, the outage was initially scheduled for July 22 but was delayed due to rain and rescheduled multiple times. The work was planned for the morning and early afternoon of July 30, starting around 9 a.m., with efforts made to keep the disruption under four hours.
The affected area included Lohstreter Road from Marilyn Drive/16th Avenue NW to north of Union Loop/Lincoln Place. The city contracted Moore Engineering, Inc. for construction engineering and issued several updates to inform residents of scheduling changes and precautions, such as turning off water-using appliances before the outage.
Moore Engineering is a regional firm that has completed more than 22,000 civil and environmental engineering projects across North Dakota and Minnesota since 1960. According to Moore Engineering, the company supports infrastructure improvements in areas such as water systems, municipal services, transportation, and campus development. It operates as an employee-owned firm and maintains partnerships with over 100 communities in the region.
Mandan has an estimated population of 24,586 as of July 1, 2023, according to the State Data Center. Known for its historical roots as a village for the Mandan tribe, a cavalry fort, and a railroad hub, Mandan continues to grow. The city hosts annual events such as Touch-A-Truck, Rodeo Days, and Buggies-n-Blues which attract thousands of visitors. According to the city website, Mandan offers various recreational facilities including parks, sports complexes, and museums.
