The North Dakota Department of Commerce has announced that Trilogy LLC, a company based in the state, will receive a $1 million loan from the Legacy Investment for Technology (LIFT) program. Trilogy developed the Sand Titan, a sand separator designed for use in the oil and gas industry.
“The LIFT program is a vital resource for fostering innovation and supporting North Dakota’s oil and gas industry,” said Commerce Economic Development & Finance Deputy Director and Head of Investments and Innovation Shayden Akason. “This funding highlights our commitment to supporting North Dakota businesses that drive economic impact in our core industries and create lasting impact across the state.”
The LIFT program offers loans to support technology development by helping companies commercialize intellectual property within North Dakota. The funds are intended to increase capacity and can be combined with other sources of funding when possible. More information about the program is available at https://belegendary.link/LIFT.
Since it began, LIFT has provided over $45 million in loans to 72 projects, with an average award amount of around $635,000. These investments have supported various sectors including health care, agriculture technology, energy, and advanced computing.
The Department of Commerce manages the fund together with the Bank of North Dakota. Loan terms include no interest for three years, followed by two years at 2% interest, then switching to standard rates set by the Bank of North Dakota. The program is open to companies operating in areas such as advanced computing, agriculture technology, autonomous vehicles and related technologies, energy, health care, value-added agriculture or energy projects, or any field identified by the LIFT committee as contributing to diversifying North Dakota’s economy.
