The city of Mandan has announced a temporary water outage scheduled for part of Lohstreter Road on July 22, 2025, to facilitate valve repairs.
According to the city's announcement, as part of Mandan's Street Improvement District 235 project, crews will temporarily shut down the main water line serving Lohstreter Road on July 22 to repair a valve and connect a new water main on 17th Avenue NW. The outage is expected to begin around 9 a.m. and last fewer than four hours. Residents are advised to turn off water-using devices beforehand to prevent potential damage. The affected area includes Lohstreter Road between Marilyn Drive/16th Avenue NW and north of Union Loop/Lincoln Place. Moore Engineering is overseeing the construction.
Moore Engineering, a regional firm with over six decades of experience in civil and environmental engineering projects across North Dakota and Minnesota, is collaborating with the city on this project. The company supports infrastructure improvements in areas such as water systems, municipal services, transportation, and campus development. Moore Engineering operates as an employee-owned firm and maintains partnerships with over 100 communities in the region.
The Engineering Department in Mandan oversees city-wide engineering and planning functions, including management of the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, staff supervision, project design, traffic operations, and technical support. It also serves as a liaison on infrastructure matters.
Mandan has an estimated population of 24,586 as of July 1, 2023. Known for its historical roots as a village for the Mandan tribe, a cavalry fort, and a railroad hub, the city continues to grow while hosting annual events that attract thousands of visitors.
