Fatal rollover crash claims life of Minot man on US Highway 2

A fatal crash occurred on US Highway 2 in Ward County early Saturday morning. The incident took place at around 2:22 AM, near mile marker 148, just before the Highway 2/Highway 52 split where Highway 52 turns south.

The crash involved a single vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 driven by Michael Zepeda, age 51, from Minot. According to reports, the vehicle was traveling east when it failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch, and overturned. Zepeda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road conditions were reported as good and the weather was dark but clear at the time of the accident. It is currently unknown whether restraints were used by the driver. No charges have been filed in connection with this incident.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash. Other agencies involved include the Minot Police Department, Minot Fire Department, and Trinity Health Community Ambulance Service.
