Burke County deputy involved in injury crash with cyclist

On Friday, June 27, 2025, an injury crash involving a Burke County Deputy vehicle occurred on Highway 8 near mile marker 193, three miles south of Bowbells. The incident happened at approximately 3:07 PM Central Time under dry and partly sunny conditions.

The crash involved a sideswipe between a pickup truck and a bicycle. The agencies responding to the scene included the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Bowbells Fire Department, and Bowbells Ambulance.

Christopher Almlie, aged 34 from Bowbells, was driving a marked patrol car southbound on Highway 8. Mary Pandolfo, aged 65 also from Bowbells, was riding her bicycle along the fog line in the same direction. Almlie attempted to move left but collided with Pandolfo. She sustained serious injuries and was transported to Trinity Health in Minot by the Bowbells Ambulance.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
