An accident involving a Burke County Deputy's vehicle and a bicyclist occurred on Friday, June 27, at approximately 3:07 PM Central Time. The incident took place on Highway 8 near mile marker 193, about three miles south of Bowbells.
The road conditions were dry, and the weather was partly sunny at the time of the crash. The collision involved a sideswipe between a pickup truck and a bicycle.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), the Burke County Sheriff's Office, Bowbells Fire Department, and Bowbells Ambulance responded to the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 34-year-old male from Bowbells, was wearing a seatbelt. Charges related to this incident are still under investigation.
The bicyclist, identified as a 65-year-old female from Bowbells, was wearing a helmet during the crash. She sustained serious injuries and was transported to Trinity Health in Minot by Bowbells Ambulance.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the accident.
