On Wednesday, June 25, a collision occurred in Cass County involving two vehicles at around 11:00 AM Central Time. The incident took place on Cass County Road 26/Highway 18, situated between Arthur and Hunter. The road was wet due to cloudy weather with light rain.

The crash involved a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) hauling gravel and a passenger car. A 2006 Kenworth with a belly-dump gravel trailer was traveling north on Highway 18 when it collided with a westbound 2019 Chevrolet Equinox on County Road 26. The Equinox failed to yield to the Kenworth, resulting in a T-bone crash.

Agencies responding to the scene included the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Hunter Fire Department, Arthur Fire Department, Hunter Ambulance, and Sanford Ambulance.

The driver of the Kenworth, a 62-year-old male from San Benito, Texas, was not injured. He was wearing his seatbelt and no charges were filed against him.

The Chevrolet Equinox's driver, a 74-year-old male from Beaver Creek, Minnesota, sustained serious injuries along with two female passengers aged 74 and 71 from Beaver Creek and Alexandria, Minnesota respectively. All were wearing seatbelts and airbags deployed during the crash. The driver received a citation for failure to yield.

Those injured were transported to medical facilities in Fargo for treatment. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the accident.
