The Great Plains Food Bank is set to distribute food to children, seniors, and families in the Bismarck-Mandan area. This follows a record-breaking food drive organized by the Bismarck Larks in partnership with Farmers Union Insurance.

“We are grateful to the Bismarck Larks and Farmers Union Insurance for this wonderful partnership, as we end hunger together,” said Rebecca Knutson, corporate engagement manager at Great Plains Food Bank. She highlighted the community's response despite adverse weather conditions. “The community really shows up to help our neighbors in need, and the food donated today will go out to food pantries and soup kitchens right here in the community.”

On Wednesday, fans who donated received a limited edition Larks Season 9 Jersey, courtesy of Farmers Union Insurance. Each year, a new jersey design is created to encourage and thank fans for their contributions. Cars with donations began lining up at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark as early as 6:50 am for an event that started at 8 am.

“This is one of my favorite days of the year,” remarked Kevin Ressler, chief sales, marketing, and brand officer for Farmers Union Insurance. He noted that since the program's inception with the Larks in 2018, over 24,000 pounds of food have been collected. Ressler emphasized North Dakotans' reliability in supporting each other regardless of weather challenges. “We are proud to serve a community that tirelessly serves others.”
