The Bismarck Larks secured a decisive victory over the Willmar Stingers with a 14-4 win on Monday night.
Pitcher Ryan Radkey was dominant, maintaining a no-hit performance through five innings before returning to the mound for the sixth. Cody Nitowitz ended Radkey's no-hit bid with a line drive into left field. "It was a good pitch," said Radkey. "Fastball. Hit my spot. He got it."
Despite this, Radkey kept the Stingers scoreless, allowing just one hit across six innings of work. His earned run average (ERA) has now dropped to 1.74 after six starts this season. "I've just been hitting my spots," added Radkey.
The Larks initially struggled against Stingers' starting pitcher Porter Buursema, who allowed only one hit and struck out eight batters over five innings. However, the Larks found their rhythm against the Stingers bullpen in the sixth inning when six batters reached base before an out was recorded. The team scored eight runs on six hits and three walks during that inning, highlighted by Kyle Hvidsten's three-run home run. The offensive surge continued into the seventh inning as the Larks added another six runs.
