On Wednesday, June 11, a fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 and Cass County Road 26. The incident involved two vehicles: a cement truck and a Kenworth pulling a loaded trailer.
The crash took place at approximately 8:25 PM under good road and weather conditions. A 2026 Western Star cement truck, driven by a 34-year-old male from Ft. Myers, Florida, was traveling west on Cass County Road 26. The driver failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 18, resulting in a collision with a northbound 2023 Kenworth towing a 2015 Trinity live bottom trailer loaded with potatoes.
The impact caused the trailer to detach, spilling its contents into the west ditch. The driver of the cement truck sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth, a 78-year-old male from Minto, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford Health for treatment.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Sanford Ambulance-Fargo, Hunter Ambulance Service, Arthur Volunteer Fire Department, Hunter Volunteer Fire Department, and Grandin-Gardner Fire Department.
