The city of Mandan has announced a temporary reduction in water pressure in the SID 235 Area 2 due to planned water main connection work as part of ongoing replacement efforts.

According to the city, the main line was temporarily taken offline to complete a connection for the SID 235 Area 2 water main replacement. Most properties maintained service through a looping line, though some experienced reduced water pressure during the day. A small number of properties had brief water shutoffs and were notified in advance. Residents were asked to limit water use during the work.

The city is collaborating with Moore Engineering, a regional firm that has completed over 22,000 civil and environmental engineering projects across North Dakota and Minnesota since 1960. The company supports infrastructure improvements in areas such as water systems, municipal services, transportation, and campus development. Moore Engineering operates as an employee-owned firm and maintains partnerships with over 100 communities in the region, some for multiple decades. The firm's role includes providing engineering support and oversight on public works initiatives, including water main replacements and related utility upgrades.

The Engineering Department oversees city-wide engineering and planning functions, including management of the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, staff supervision, project design, traffic operations, and technical support. It also serves as a liaison on infrastructure matters. The department's webpage offers information on bids, road and sidewalk projects, construction standards, stormwater and pollution control, mapping, traffic features like roundabouts, and frequently asked questions. Contact details are provided for City Engineer Jarek Wigness, Assistant City Engineer Riley McAdoo-Roesler, and other key staff members at City Hall in Mandan.

Mandan has an estimated population of 24,586 as of July 1, 2023. Known for its historical roots as a village for the Mandan tribe, a cavalry fort, and a railroad hub, the city continues to grow. Mandan hosts annual events such as Touch-A-Truck, Rodeo Days, and Buggies-n-Blues which attract thousands of visitors. The city offers various recreational facilities including parks, sports complexes, and museums.
