The Mandan Community Beautification Committee is actively seeking a volunteer to fill an immediate vacancy for a term extending through December 31, 2026.

According to a press release, the Community Beautification Committee develops and manages initiatives aimed at enhancing the visual appeal of Mandan. The committee convenes every other month on the second Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Residents or business representatives who own property in Mandan are encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted online until 11:59 p.m. on June 8 or until the position is filled.

Reestablished in May 2013, the committee consists of citizen appointees tasked with developing and coordinating initiatives to improve the community’s aesthetic appeal. According to the city of Mandan, the committee may propose changes to the Mandan Code of Ordinances and submits recommendations to the City Commission. Private sector members advise City staff and the Commission on beautification efforts, including developing programs, recommending policies for property improvement, organizing community clean-up events, and promoting public involvement in these activities.

Citizen involvement is crucial for maintaining a robust community for Mandan’s residents, businesses, and visitors. Beyond voting, engagement includes staying informed, attending city meetings, running for office, or joining a city commission, board, or committee. These volunteer bodies assist the Mandan City Commission in implementing municipal policies and programs following federal, state, and local laws. Mandan has an estimated population of 24,586 as of July 1, 2023, according to the State Data Center. Known for its historical roots as a village for the Mandan tribe, a cavalry fort, and a railroad hub, Mandan continues to grow. The city hosts annual events such as Touch-A-Truck, Rodeo Days, and Buggies-n-Blues that attract thousands of visitors.
