Fatal motorcycle crash under investigation in Burke County

On May 4, 2025, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred on ND Highway 8, north of Stanley. The incident took place at approximately 8:10 PM Central Time. The road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the accident.

The crash involved a 2021 Indian Scout Motorcycle driven by a 29-year-old male from Bowbells. The motorcycle left the roadway on a curve and vaulted over a field approach, resulting in fatal injuries to the driver who was not wearing a helmet. The motorcycle broke apart upon impact.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash. Other agencies involved include the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Powers Lake Fire, Powers Lake Ambulance, and Stanley Ambulance.
