On Monday, May 12, 2025, at approximately 3:51 PM Mountain Time, an injury crash occurred on Highway 12 near mile marker 56 close to Reeder. The incident involved a semi-trailer and a pickup truck.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, along with the Adams County Sheriff's Office, Hettinger County Sheriff's Office, Reeder Fire Department, and West River Ambulance responded to the scene.

A 2000 GMC Sierra driven by a 65-year-old male from Camano Island, Washington was traveling southbound on 16th St NW when it failed to stop at a stop sign. Consequently, an eastbound International Semi pulling a grain trailer collided with the Sierra. The driver of the Sierra sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to West River Health Services Hospital in Hettinger before being airlifted to CHI St. Alexius Health Center in Bismarck.

The driver of the semi-trailer, a 74-year-old male from Dickinson, was not injured in the crash. Both drivers were using seatbelts at the time of the accident. The investigation into potential charges is ongoing by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
