Train collides with pickup in West Fargo; driver injured

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at around 11:22 AM Central Time, a collision occurred between a train and a pickup truck in West Fargo. The incident took place on the 400 block of 12th Avenue NE. The road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the crash.

The accident involved a BNSF train and a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. According to reports, the cross arms were down as the train was crossing, and several vehicles had stopped at the crossing. However, the pickup truck was dragged approximately 100 feet before coming to rest along the railroad tracks.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 34-year-old from Valley City, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Sanford Hospital for treatment. The status of restraints used by the driver remains unknown.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, West Fargo Police Department, West Fargo Fire Department, BNSF Police, and Sanford Ambulance. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
