On Monday, May 12, 2025, a collision occurred on Highway 12 near Reeder involving a semi-trailer and a pickup truck. The incident took place at approximately 3:51 PM Mountain Time under clear weather and dry road conditions.

The vehicles involved were a 2000 GMC Sierra driven by William Wagner, aged 65 from Camano Island, Washington, and a 2019 International Semi with a grain trailer driven by David Beaudoin, aged 74 from Dickinson. Wagner was seriously injured in the crash and was initially taken to West River Health Services Hospital in Hettinger before being airlifted to CHI St. Alexius Health Center in Bismarck. Beaudoin was not injured.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol's narrative, Wagner failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling southbound on 16th St NW, about one mile west of Reeder. This resulted in the semi striking the Sierra as it traveled east from Scranton to Regent.

Both drivers were using seatbelts at the time of the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing with involvement from multiple agencies including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Adams County Sheriff's Office, Hettinger County Sheriff's Office, Reeder Fire Department, and West River Ambulance.
