Governor Kelly Armstrong has declared May 4-10, 2025, as North Dakota Travel and Tourism Week in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week. This initiative highlights the importance of tourism to the state's economy and acknowledges the hospitality of its residents.

The proclamation emphasizes the role of North Dakotans in creating a welcoming environment that attracts visitors globally. The state's tourism industry is a major economic contributor, being the third largest industry with an estimated $5.7 billion impact in 2024. Visitor numbers rose by 5.3%, totaling over 25.6 million, while spending increased by 8.8% to $3.3 billion. The sector employs more than 43,000 people and supports over 3,000 businesses across North Dakota.

"North Dakota's welcoming spirit and diverse attractions make our state a unique destination," stated Governor Armstrong. "The economic impact tourism has on our state, communities and businesses is significant and important to our economic growth."

As part of the "HELLO" campaign, both residents and tourists are encouraged to explore North Dakota's charm during the summer season.

This observance coincides with the U.S. Travel Association’s National Travel and Tourism Week, which underscores travel's contribution to the national economy. Additional details about this week can be accessed at https://ndgov.link/NTTW25.
