The city of Mandan has announced an invitation for local groups to participate in a community litter clean-up event scheduled for May. This initiative, organized in partnership with Keep North Dakota Clean, aims to provide participants with necessary supplies, route guidance, and opportunities to win prizes. The announcement was made through a press release on April 1, 2025.

According to the city of Mandan, the event encourages participation from businesses, civic organizations, and youth groups. Volunteers will receive support for their efforts and have the chance to win various prizes such as gift cards and exclusive items from local businesses.

There are approximately 17 routes available for volunteer groups to clean. The suggested group size is 8-10 people to facilitate coordination. Individuals interested in volunteering can sign up for a route and will be connected with others for group efforts. The event is now in its 12th year since it was initiated by Keep Mandan Beautiful. Volunteers are encouraged to wear shirts from past years or submit shirt sizes when registering. Door prizes like passes for Raging Rivers, golf courses, restaurant gift cards, and Mandan Rodeo tickets will be awarded throughout the event.

Keep North Dakota Clean, Inc., established in 1968, focuses on statewide education regarding beautification and proper litter disposal. According to its website, they emphasize early education and host an annual statewide poster contest for students from Pre-K through eighth grade as well as special needs students.

The city of Mandan Public Works Department manages various municipal services including forestry, grounds maintenance, landfill operations, garbage collection, cemetery care, street maintenance, and utility management. Led by Director Shane O’Keefe and located at 411 6th Ave SW, the department's Forestry Division is responsible for urban tree care and helps maintain Mandan’s status as a Tree City USA.
