Governor Kelly Armstrong expressed his satisfaction following the dismissal of a lawsuit against the Dakota Access Pipeline. The legal action, initiated by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, sought to cease the pipeline's operations. U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg delivered the dismissal, maintaining the pipeline’s continued operation since its inception in June 2017 in North Dakota.
"The Dakota Access Pipeline has been operating safely for almost eight years now and is a critical piece of infrastructure for North Dakota and our nation’s energy security," Armstrong stated. He also emphasized the necessity for a conclusive Environmental Impact Statement from the Army Corps of Engineers to resolve the issue definitively.
The pipeline's significance for energy security in North Dakota and its operational safety were highlighted in Armstrong’s remarks following the court's decision.
