Williston area families are encouraged to attend a community event on March 29 at the Williston Area Recreation Center (ARC). The Gateway to Health event, co-sponsored by ARC Fitness and North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS), aims to connect families with resources that support health and well-being.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit interactive booths from local and statewide organizations. These booths will offer tools, programs, services, and information focused on mental, physical, social, financial, spiritual, environmental, and vocational wellness.
"The goal is to help individuals and families thrive by connecting them to community resources and supports that promote strong, stable families," stated Hayden Kemp from the HHS Community Engagement team.
The event will feature displays in the tennis court area of the recreation center. Attendees will receive an event passport card for marking off visits to vendor booths. Completing this card grants free admission to the facility for the day. Additionally, attendees can participate in a drawing for prizes awarded throughout the day.
A free lunch is available for the first 200 attendees thanks to contributions from Jimmy John’s, O.K. Distributing Company Inc., and Coca-Cola of Williston.
Inspired by a similar successful event in Bismarck-Mandan, this gathering offers Williston-area families an opportunity to learn about resources that contribute to a healthier lifestyle in North Dakota.
Voluntary donations are welcome at the event. All proceeds will go towards paying off school meal debt for students in the Williston Basin School District.
