The City of Bismarck and Burleigh County are seeking community input to update their mitigation plan. The initiative aims to enhance safety measures against potential hazards and disasters. The current plans, approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, require an update every five years.

Residents are encouraged to participate by completing a short questionnaire available until April 10th. The survey can be accessed online at both burleigh.gov and Bismarck Emergency Management websites.

Mitigation involves actions taken before incidents occur to reduce loss of life and property. Its societal benefits include creating safer communities, enabling quicker recovery from disasters, and reducing the financial impact on individuals and communities.
