U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota has issued a statement following a jury decision in Mandan, which found Greenpeace liable for defamation related to its involvement in the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) protests that took place in Morton County during 2016-17. The lawsuit was initiated by Energy Transfer Partners, the parent company of DAPL.

Senator Cramer expressed his satisfaction with the verdict, stating, "This is what justice looks like in America. This is what happens when common sense prevails." He acknowledged Energy Transfer Partners for pursuing the lawsuit and emphasized their role in supporting American energy security and contributing to the local economy of North Dakota.

Cramer further remarked on the significance of this ruling for residents of western North Dakota, who he noted are integral to providing energy for the nation's economy. He stated, "It has everything to do with their local pride."

The senator criticized Greenpeace and other environmental groups involved in the protests, accusing them of making "defamatory and false claims about the pipeline." He suggested that this legal outcome would serve as a deterrent against similar actions in the future.

In closing his statement, Cramer congratulated Energy Transfer Partners on their legal victory and thanked them for their investment in North Dakota and American industry.
