Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) joined House Republicans this week in supporting three Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions aimed at reversing certain regulations set by the Biden administration. These measures, according to Fedorchak, pose a threat to American energy production, manufacturing, and consumer choice.
“These rules are yet another example of the Biden administration putting radical climate ideology ahead of American energy security, manufacturing jobs, and families trying to make ends meet,” said Fedorchak. She emphasized her vote was intended to reverse "regulatory overreach" to lower costs, protect jobs, and ensure that energy producers can operate without excessive regulation.
The House passed three CRA resolutions:
H.J. Res. 61 aims to overturn amendments made by the Environmental Protection Agency to the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) concerning rubber tire manufacturing. The resolution argues these changes impose financial burdens on manufacturers and threaten jobs with minimal environmental benefit.
H.J. Res. 42 seeks to reverse expanded certification and labeling requirements from the Department of Energy for household appliances. The resolution claims these requirements increase compliance costs for manufacturers and limit consumer choice.
S.J. Res. 11 is designed to block a rule requiring oil and gas operators to submit archaeological reports for activities on the Outer Continental Shelf, arguing it hinders domestic energy production.
House Republicans assert their commitment to reducing regulations they believe stifle economic growth and undermine energy security. H.J. Res. 61 and H.J. Res. 42 will be considered by the Senate, while S.J. Res. 11 is set for review at the White House.
