Gov. Kelly Armstrong has issued a statement following the death of state Representative Josh Christy from Fargo. "Josh Christy was a passionate advocate for the residents of District 27 and all North Dakotans, a loving husband and doting father to three beautiful daughters, and someone I was honored to call a friend," said Armstrong. He added, "Kjersti and I are heartbroken for Mary and the girls, and we ask that all North Dakotans join us in praying for Josh’s family, friends and legislative colleagues during this difficult time."

Rep. Christy was elected to the state House of Representatives in November 2022. At the time of his passing, he was attending the current legislative session in Bismarck. His wife, Mary Christy, had previously served as constituent services director and state director for Armstrong during his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In honor of Rep. Christy's memory, Gov. Armstrong has ordered all U.S. and North Dakota flags to be flown at half-staff from dawn until dusk on the day of his interment. The governor encourages residents to do likewise at their homes and businesses. A flag advisory will be updated once funeral arrangements are finalized.
