The use of fireworks in Mandan is allowed on December 31 from 5 p.m. until January 1 at 1 a.m., with the exception of sky lanterns or bottle rockets. Violations will result in a $150 fine.

Residents are advised against placing fireworks in recycling bins as they are not recyclable. Used fireworks should be disposed of with regular garbage once they are completely extinguished and cool. For unused fireworks, it is recommended to remove the fuse and soak them in water overnight before disposal.

Authorities also caution against storing spent fireworks near buildings, as this common mistake can lead to fires.
