The University of Mary Concert Band is set to perform its annual Fall Band Concert on Sunday, October 27, at 3 p.m. The event will take place in Founders Hall at the Lumen Vitae University Center on campus and is open to the public without charge.

Dennis Gowen, professor of Music and director of Bands and High Brass at the university, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming performance. "We hosted a wonderful group of Canadian band students on our campus this September," said Gowen. "The ensemble members and I are excited to share our entire program with our wonderful regional audience."

The concert will begin with “Magic Overture” by Thomas Doss, followed by Gustav Holst's “Second Suite in F for Military Band.” Gowen noted that "this is such a hallmark work for any concert band, and the students always fall in love with these English classics."

Additional pieces include “Songs of Sailor and Sea” by Robert W. Smith, “Rush” by Samuel Hazo, and “Esprit De Corps” by Robert Jager. The program will conclude with George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” marking its 100th anniversary. Gowen remarked that "the second half of the concert will be a very special feature for us." Dr. EunAe Lee will be featured on piano, accompanied by about two dozen ensemble members.
