Grand Forks, ND — Congressman Kelly Armstrong (ND-AL) hosted a field hearing of the House Judiciary Committee and the Northern Border Security Caucus on Wednesday, focusing on the northern border crisis. The hearing, titled “The Biden Border Crisis: North Dakota Perspectives,” examined the effects of current border issues on North Dakota’s residents and communities.
Testimonies were provided by North Dakota Attorney General Drew H. Wrigley; Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner; Walhalla Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rebecca Davis; and Renville County Sheriff Roger Hutchinson. Attendees included Reps. Tom McClintock (CA-05), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement; Mike Kelly (PA-16), Co-Chair of the Northern Border Security Caucus; Michelle Fischbach (MN-07); Tom Tiffany (WI-07); and Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05).
“You can’t be farther away from the southern border than Grand Forks, but in every single community across North Dakota, somebody is dying from fentanyl poisoning, and 100 percent of those pills are made by the cartels in Mexico,” said Rep. Armstrong. “In addition to the devastating fentanyl crisis, we also feel the impact of the Biden Administration’s failed border policies in our local economy. The diversion of resources necessary to put a band-aid on the bullet wound that is our southern border disallows North Dakotans and Canadian businessmen and women, farmers on both sides of the border, and friends and families from engaging in everyday activities. I want to thank the House Judiciary Committee, Chairman Jim Jordan, and Chairman Tom McClintock for bringing attention to the over 5,500-mile stretch of land that is our northern border and the impact that our southern border has on our local communities.”
