Senator John Hoeven and a group of bipartisan colleagues have come together to push President Biden to authorize the summer sale of E15 fuel for the year 2024. In a letter led by Senators John Thune and Dick Durbin, the senators emphasized the importance of leveraging domestic biofuels in the nation's energy strategy. They stated, “[W]e must pursue an all-of-the-above energy strategy, which includes leveraging domestic biofuels.” The senators highlighted that allowing the sale of higher blends of biofuels like E15 during the summer driving season would benefit consumers by lowering costs and promote the environmental advantages of American biofuels and modern agriculture.

The letter, also signed by several other senators, requested President Biden to take swift executive action to permit the sale of E15 fuel during the 2024 summer driving season by extending the Reid vapor pressure waiver nationwide. The senators underscored the importance of biofuels in bolstering the domestic fuel supply, reducing consumer costs, and supporting environmental benefits.

The senators pointed out the significance of biofuels in the current global energy landscape, especially with ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting energy markets. They highlighted the need for a comprehensive energy strategy that includes leveraging domestic biofuels to ensure energy security and stability.

In conclusion, the senators emphasized that permitting the sale of E15 fuel for the sixth consecutive year would be a significant step towards providing consumers with choices and reducing emissions. They urged President Biden to consider their request promptly to benefit the public's best interests.
