Sen. Cramer: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Awards More Than $6 Million to North Dakota

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a significant award of $6,015,160 in discretionary funding to various programs and initiatives in North Dakota. The funding aims to support critical health initiatives in the state.

Among the recipients of this funding are the University of North Dakota, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services. The University of North Dakota received $3,000,000 to support the Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub) through a cooperative agreement provided by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. Expressing gratitude for the award, a representative from the university stated, "We are excited to receive this funding to support the Rural Health Information Hub at the University of North Dakota."

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe received $1,564,410 through the Administration for Children and Families’ American Indian and Alaska Native Head Start and Early Head Start programs. A spokesperson for the tribe expressed appreciation for the funding, noting, "This award will enable us to continue providing essential services to our community."

Furthermore, the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services was granted $1,450,750 to strengthen public health infrastructure, workforce, and data systems. A representative from the department commented, "We are grateful for this funding, which will allow us to enhance our public health infrastructure and data systems."
