U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota expressed his gratitude towards Major General Alan Dohrmann after the announcement of his retirement, effective September 30. Cramer described Dohrmann as a trusted advisor and highlighted his 40 years of service to the country and the state of North Dakota. Cramer acknowledged Dohrmann's impact on the state, from his military service to his management of emergencies.

Major General Dohrmann has been serving as the Adjutant General of North Dakota and the Director of Emergency Services since 2015. His leadership has been instrumental in the success of the North Dakota National Guard's responsibilities both at home and abroad. Dohrmann's tenure includes overseeing the Army Guard's service on the southern border, the Air National Guard's reconnaissance missions, and the NDNG's state partnerships with Ghana, Benin, and Togo.

In his formal resignation letter, Maj. Gen. Dohrmann expressed his honor in serving as North Dakota's Adjutant General and thanked Governor Doug Burgum for his leadership. Dohrmann expressed pride in the achievements of the Soldiers, Airmen, and civilian employees under his command and mentioned his appreciation for the support received from Team North Dakota.

Governor Doug Burgum announced that North Dakota's next Adjutant General and Emergency Services Director will be named before Dohrmann's retirement in September.
