The Public Works Utility Maintenance division will begin flushing public fire hydrants the week of May 8, 2023. Flushing will continue throughout the summer months.
Fire hydrants are flushed to ensure they are working properly and to maintain the quality of the water supply by flushing out any sediment or rust and bringing fresh water to the ends of distribution lines. As part of this hydrant flushing process, you may notice rusty water in your water lines. If this happens, run water in a bathtub or outside water spigot until the water clears up.
Please contact the Public Works Department at 701-667-3240 with questions or concerns.
