Senator John Hoeven has announced his support for the Senate's confirmation of Sam Brown as Under Secretary of Memorial Affairs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In this position, Brown will oversee memorial affairs and work to ensure veterans are recognized for their service.

“Sam Brown is clearly the right choice for this important position at the VA. From his own service in the Army to the work he has done on behalf of veterans since, I am confident that he will work hard to ensure all of our veterans are laid to rest with the honor they have earned. I look forward to working with him to accomplish just that, including by advancing a Veterans Memorial Center at the Fargo National Cemetery, which will help make it an incredible cemetery worthy of our veterans and their families,” said Hoeven.

Last month, Senator Hoeven announced an agreement in principle with the Department of Veterans Affairs for constructing a Veterans Memorial Center at Fargo National Cemetery. This agreement followed efforts by Hoeven, VA Secretary Doug Collins, and VA staff to approve a conceptual design proposed by the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard and a local community working group. The goal is to provide adequate facilities at FNC that meet the needs of veterans, their families, and volunteers while ensuring federal standards similar to those found at North Dakota’s state veterans cemetery in Mandan.
