Interstate 94 traffic on the Red River bridge between Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead, Minnesota, will shift from the outside lanes to the inside lanes starting Friday, August 1. The change is part of the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s ongoing I-94/Red River Structure Repair Project.
To accommodate this transition, I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 31. During this time, crews will adjust traffic control equipment for the new pattern. Afterward, two lanes in each direction will reopen.
Motorists are asked to follow posted signs and exercise caution through the work zone.
The project includes structural upgrades designed to extend the lifespan of the bridge and improve safety for drivers. Work is expected to finish by October 2025. Additional traffic impacts are anticipated as construction continues. More information about project updates can be found at https://dot.nd.gov/I-94RedRiver.
