The DSU Heritage Foundation is preparing to release a children's book titled "An Alphabet Book for Little Blue Hawks." This new book aims to captivate young fans of Dickinson State University football. It serves as a companion to the adult book "100 Years of DSU Football."

The book is illustrated by local artist Sara Worner and designed by DSU alumna Sarah Selle. It offers a playful way for children to learn the alphabet while introducing them to Blue Hawk traditions and football concepts. Each letter from A to Z provides insights into football terms and DSU's football culture.

Notable highlights include the explanation of quarterback calls like "Blue 42," information about DSU's mascot Buster, and an overview of a football's lace purpose. Additionally, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Dickinson sponsors the book, contributing to a hidden logo game for young readers.

Ty Orton, Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation, remarked, "This book is a perfect way to engage young fans and celebrate the legacy of Blue Hawk football. From learning the alphabet to discovering fun football tidbits, it’s a book the whole family can enjoy. And with Sara Worner’s stunning artwork, it will be a standout addition to anyone’s library."

"An Alphabet Book for Little Blue Hawks" is authored by Debora Dragseth, Baker Boy Professor of Leadership at DSU, and her son Michael Dragseth, a first-grade teacher. Together, they bring their educational and football enthusiasm to the project.

The publication is scheduled for early summer 2025, making it a timely addition to summer reading collections. Further details on preordering will become available soon through the DSU 100 Years of Football platform.
