The Memorial Highway reconstruction project is set to commence on April 1, 2025. During the construction period, traffic will be limited to a single lane in each direction, with speed reduced to 25 mph and an 11-foot width restriction implemented for safety.
The reconstruction will span from 32nd Ave SE to 46th Ave SE and is part of the 2025 construction season. This project involves replacing the existing road surface with new concrete pavement, improving drainage, installing underground utilities, and creating a new multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Other upgrades include modernized traffic signals, enhanced lighting, improved business access, and additional drainage improvements. The completion of the east half of the reconstruction is expected by mid-November, while the east side multi-use path is projected to be finished in 2026.
The project also includes the construction of an underground storm sewer trunk line crossing 21st St SE and 19th St SE. Details about street closures and detour routes are available, with 19th St SE closures beginning April 1, 2025, and 21st St SE closures occurring throughout April 2025.
Updates on the project can be found in the March 2025 Newsletter or by checking project updates regularly.
