Each month, the Bismarck Larks and MDU Resources Group honor a child from the Bismarck-Mandan area who stands out for their community service and personal conduct. In January, the recognition was shared by two deserving children, both of whom have made exceptional contributions to their communities.
“These two kids both had such inspiring stories that we couldn’t choose just one,” said Kayla Rimer, Larks VP of Creative Services. “We are thrilled to celebrate their achievements together!”
One of the honorees, Melbourne, is an active athlete who participates in football, baseball, and swimming. His passion for sports is especially evident in his role as a catcher in baseball, a position he believes requires resilience and quick thinking. Outside of athletics, Melbourne is also an avid reader. He finds reading to be a relaxing escape and enjoys immersing himself in different worlds through books. “I love to read!” Melbourne shared. “I feel like I’m transported to wherever the book is set, and it’s just so soothing.”
Brody, the second honoree, is another sports enthusiast, excelling in football, hockey, and baseball. Like Melbourne, Brody also enjoys playing catcher on the baseball field, appreciating the dynamic challenges it presents. In addition to his athletic talents, Brody is deeply committed to giving back to his community. He volunteers regularly through his church, as well as with charities such as soup kitchens, United Way, and the Dream Center, where he helps those in need.
Both Melbourne and Brody are role models for their peers, demonstrating a balance of athletic achievement and selfless service. Their efforts truly reflect the spirit of community and dedication that the Bismarck Larks and MDU Resources Group aim to celebrate each month.
